A lady measured me at the hospital and my chest width under the boobs was 29. I was surprised because I thought I was broader. I know I'm not supposed to ask in terms of sizes but that's my only way to get an idea of how big. So let's just say we consider the middle of the road sizing system. Answer: I'm a large B cup and I had 360cc under the muscle....what size will I be eventually? Hello! Thank you for your question. In general, implant size does not correlate with bra cup size. The cup size itself will vary from manufacturer to manufacturer as well as who is doing the actual measurements. Thus, cup size is never a reliable indicator for your breast size. I typically encourage my patients not to communicate her desires in cup size but more on the actual look and appearance. Good communication between you and your surgeon of your expectations is warranted - choosing your surgeon wisely is the first step. Discussion of your wishes and having an honest and open dialog of your procedure is mandatory (e.g, implant type, incision, placement, lift, etc). I have found that photographs brought by the patient is helpful to get a visualization of the appearance you wish for in terms of size, shape, fullness, etc. In addition, your surgeon's pre and postoperative photographs should demonstrate a realistic goal for you. Once this has been accomplished, allow your surgeon to utilize his/her best medical judgment during the procedure to finesse the best possible result for you after preoperative biodimensional planning and fitting the right implant for your breast width, which is the most important measurement. Answer: Too early to tell Thanks for your question and the photo. Congrats on having the procedure. It's very hard to accurately predict cup size. Bras are made very differently and patients even have differences of opinion on what fits them the best. At 6 weeks the vast majority of the swelling will have dissipated but the entire process may take over 6 months. There is a ballpark number of 200CC to get to the next cup size. For younger patients with smaller breasts I have found that it doesn't often take quite that much. My guess is that you will be about 2 cups bigger than you started. The cup size however is different than the circumferential measurement of 29 that you have. That should not change. Don't be surprised if you can wear a 30DD or 32D. Best of Luck with your recovery.
