Jaw surgery and braces versus sliding genioplasty?

I have a recessed chin and a very slight overbite which does impact on function of mouth when eating. I have had consultations with 3 oral and maxillary facial surgeons who have suggested bringing both upper and lower jaws forwards. This would involve wearing fixed braces (again)for 2 years with combination of jaw surgery- I have considered sliding genioplasty and did suggest this to them but they said it wouldn't make much difference to appearance of recessed chin. Any recommendations?

Jaw surgery versus sliding genioplasty

I agree  with your previous surgeons.  Based on your profile and the contours of your chin, you would benefit much more from jaw advancement than chin surgery. I have not seen your bite nor photos other than that submitted, but from what I can see you definitely are a good candidate for mandibular advancement, and possibly maxillary impaction. Continue discussing this with your surgeon of choice. Make sure he or she is very experienced in orthognathic surgery and board-certified.
