Why are there different types of casts for a rhinoplasty and how long must you keep it on for? (photos)

As you can see in the pictures there's some casts that take over your face and little less prominent casts why is this? Can you request your PS use the smaller casts? Also how long do you have to keep it on for if your nose has been broken?

Thank you for your question. A very good question indeed. I suppose the true reason is no one cast type is perfect hence surgeons have kept on looking for a better cast for one reason or the other.
It is usually sufficient to keep a cast on for 7 days, but in certain instances, for example during an osteotomy, the bone fractures into several pieces, then one might keep it on for up to 2 weeks.
