Why are there different types of casts in rhinoplasty and how long must one keep it on for?
Thank you for your question. A very good question indeed. I suppose the true reason is no one cast type is perfect hence surgeons have kept on looking for a better cast for one reason or the other.
It is usually sufficient to keep a cast on for 7 days, but in certain instances, for example during an osteotomy, the bone fractures into several pieces, then one might keep it on for up to 2 weeks.
Hope that helps.
