I have androgenic alopecia. I had been treating my aga with minoxidil and had some regrowth. I could not tolerate side effects of spiro a recommended dose to help stop shedding and was given kenalog injections by a dermatologist to help reduce shed. Since getting the Injections I've lost hair around the injection sites and my shedding worsened to the point I lost density I had regained with topical minoxidil alone. Now my dermatologist recommends trying oral minoxidil. Can my hair recover?

Hair loss following Kenalog (a corticosteroid) injections, especially in areas near the injection sites, can occur due to scalp atrophy or the temporary suppression of hair growth. While Kenalog injections can help with inflammation, they aren’t typically recommended for androgenetic alopecia (AGA) and can sometimes cause issues like localized hair thinning.
The good news is that hair can often recover from this type of hair loss, especially if the follicles aren’t permanently damaged. Since you’ve seen positive results with topical minoxidil before, the transition to oral minoxidil could potentially help stimulate regrowth and restore density. Oral minoxidil is effective for many people in regrowing hair, especially when topical treatments haven't provided sufficient results.
It's understandable to feel concerned about the recent shedding, but with oral minoxidil and time, there's a good chance your hair will recover.
