Is tattoo excision relevant for me? (photo)

Question

Hi, i have a tattoo on my back-hand, i went through 7 picoway sessions (the photo was taken several days post 7th session) with little to no results. I noticed that in this area of the body there is almost no excess skin, but i'm not a doctor so i don't know how much skin is required in order to go through this procedure. So i don't know if tattoo excision is relevant for me. Thanks in advance for your answers.

Thank you for your question in regards to tattoo removal. Excision is typically not recommended as it will leave you with a scar and the possibility of needing a skin graft. To be sure what is best for you, see two or more board-certified providers in your area for a complete evaluation to make sure you are a good candidate and that it is safe for you to have treatment. I hope this helps.

Hi, I would not advise you to go for tattooed skin excision as this procedure will definitely leave an undesired scar on the dorsal side of your hand and might further hamper the movement of your fingers.
The only effective treatment I would recommend is to have the tattoo removed by a top quality nanosecond Q-Switch Nd YAG laser. In my practice, I have very good results for tattoo removal on all my patients with Alma Lasers' Q-Switch Nd YAG laser. So, I would highly recommend you to look for a doctor who uses such technology. Though other high quality similar lasers might do the job. 
The usual interval between treatment sessions is one month. Some medico-aesthetic products should be applied on the treated skin after each laser treatment session in order to avoid infection and accelerate normal skin tissue healing and repair.

After the area heals you could consider a different tattoo laser for the removal which should be effective.  There are several.  The tattoo is small enough to excise and a staged excision (done in two sessions) should decrease the length of the scar to a degree.  There is generally more than enough skin on the hand to do this and the area will heal OK but not great.  Good luck
