Post Op Swelling

Swelling in the pubic area can last several months after tummy tuck. Swelling after tummy tuck can last for 3-4 months at least. The swelling in the pubic area is often more noticeable than other areas because it is a small area. This resolves in time however. Best of luck with your results...

Swelling in the pubic area

Hi, sunnsue4.  Recovery and healing vary among patients.  After tummy tuck and liposuction, swelling can last for 3-6 months.  Given that the pubic area is a dependent area, it will have more persistent swelling that the rest of the surgical area.  I don't know when your surgery was.  If you are concerned, please follow up with your plastic surgeon.  Best regards.

How long does swelling last after tummy tuck?

Thanks for your question. There is always swelling after surgery. This typically peaks 48-72 hours after surgery and then gradually subsides. With normal healing after a tummy tuck, swelling will be most severe in the lower abdomen and supra pubic area, with the upper abdominal swelling first to resolve. By 6 weeks most swelling should subside; however, every last bit of supra pubic swelling can take 3 months or so to disappear. If you have excessive prolonged swelling, it could be an indication that there is a healing issue. It's important to maintain regular follow up visits with your surgeon to assess your healing and make sure everything is progressing normally.

Hang in there

Hang in there. Some swelling at the bottom of the abdomen, the mons, is the last place for the swelling fluid to go. Massage and acoustic sound waves application are used in our office to facilitate the reduction of swelling. It can take up to 6 months for it to completely resolve. Good luck

Tummy Tuck Recovery

Hang in there! As long as the pain, swelling and scars are improving week to week, however slowly, there is still hope for the final outcome. Ask you plastic surgeon if there are any compression garments, stretches or massaging exercises that can help speed your recovery.

How long after TT for swelling and numbness to resolve?

It will take me one year for the swelling and numbness to resolve after a tummy tuck. There may be some residual numbness afterwards directly at the incision but generally your sensation returns in other areas.

3-6 months

Usually, swelling form TT will be improve significantly during the first 3-6 months.  Healing in general from a TT will take at least one year and longer for your sensations to return.  How long it takes depends on the type of TT you received.
