Does spiro (aldactone) cure acne permanently or one has to be on the pill forever?

Spironolactone suppresses acne; it does not cure acne

In general, you will need to continue taking spironolactone to get the benefits.  It is not a cure for acne, unfortunately.  Luckily, it is generally very well tolerated.

Difficult to answer this one, as tablets such as spironolactone, and cypeterone acetate only block the hormonal aspect of acne. In some situations, a short course of spiro (3-6 months) can help remove one cause of acne (there are many cause of acne including genetics, blocked oil glands, cosmetics, stress, diet, and hormones), and place acne in remission. In other, spironolactone needs to be continued. Let your endocrinologist or general dermatologist guide you as to the best treatments for your type of acne. Dr Davin Lim.
