Can dutasteride cause worsening of androgenic alopecia in males from increased testosterone? (Photos)

The mechanism for testosterone contributing to AGA is NOT a direct effect but rather through it's conversion to DHT (which is the offending agent in hair loss) So by blocking the formation of DHT, yes you may see a slightly higher level of testosterone but that in itself will NOT worsen hair loss. I would not ever expect finasteride or dutasteride to worsen hair loss, however, as with any medication, there is a range of response. Some people get a great response, some less vigorous and some find it ineffective. Given the fact that you are having losses even on the sides (which should be somewhat protected from AGA) I would recommend a visit to a dermatologist for an evaluation to make sure there isn't some other underlying cause.
