Which microneedling product would be best for tightening skin and alleviating wrinkles--Skinpen or Infini RF?

INFINI has better results

The INFINI is a powerful fractional radiofrequency device that tightens skin, improves scars, wrinkles and stretch marks. I would not describe it as a microneedling device, but as device that delivers high-intensity focused RF directly to the tissues. The treatment tip consists of 49 insulated micro-needles (200 microns in diameter) whose depth and can be adjusted from 0.5 mm to 3.5mm. Because the depth of penetration can be changed, multiple passes can be used to give a truly customized treatment that addresses each patient’s cosmetic needs. The needles are insulated so that the skin is protected and the energy levels are completely adjustable, so that the energy delivered to the treatment area is precise and customized to the patient’s needs. Because there is no risk of hyper pigmentation, so any skin type can be treated.

Infini also comes with a smaller 16 micro-needle tip that allows the clinician to target small areas like the eyes. The recuperation time is short, but the results are nothing short of amazing.

We are always using our radiofrequency devices not only for tightening in patients looking to look fresher and younger, but also to help control acne on patients with active disease. This is a great way to address two problems at once.

Patients that are treated with INFINI can have small red spots on their skin (due to the puncturing of superficial blood vessels) that can last a few days. Some patients can also develop small bumps that will also disappear within a week. Most people just look red and scaly for a day or two. Two or three treatments are required for optimal results.

Consistent lighting and positioning of patients is paramount when evaluating photographs of patients that have had any kind of procedure, whether it is fillers or radiofrequency. We are always striving to perfect our photographic procedure so that patients can be confident that any result we show them is genuine, and not an artifact of variable lighting techniques. It is difficult for me to ascertain how efficacious the SkinPen is at tightening the skin. Almost every ‘before and after’ photo I have seen of SkinPen results does not have either one of the aforementioned attributes: consistent lighting and positioning of the subjects.

Which microneedling product would be best for tightening skin and alleviating wrinkles--Skinpen or Infini RF?

The Infini is microneedling on steroids. We have used Dermapen for a couple years and Infiini for several months. The results of Infini are faster and better as it employs the RF energy at the level needed without risking epidermal heating and blistering.

Infini RF

Infini combines two technologies into one procedure:  microneedling and radiofrequency.  The microneedles are used to precisely deliver the radiofrequency into the skin.  The combination of these two technologies results in skin tightening and improvement in wrinkles, crepiness, and scarring of the skin.  Patients typically require one treatment a month for the three months and see results within 6 months.  I would recommend an in-person consultation with an experienced provider who can determine if you are a good candidate for the procedure.

Infini is so much more than microneedling

Think of Infini as an RF device that uses microneedles to place the energy in the skin. The energy is key to skin tightening, wrinkle control, and improvement in scars. The microneedles play a minor role in these improvements. Devices such as Dermapen cause some collagen stimulation by the fact that they stretch the fibroblasts in the skin and cause a minor injury. They don't have any energy at their tips, so the improvements are very limited.

Microneedling and RF Treatments

It is best you get a a cosmetic consultation without any photos it is hard to tell what would be best for you.  The devices are best when chosen for individual skin types.  Best, Dr. Emer.
