Should I start using topical finasteride as an 18 year old?

So within this year I have experience some hair loss which is noticeable. Such as my fair falling out easily and thinning. I read that during puberty dht may help produce your sexual organs. At 18 I should be going through puberty still so if I use topical finasterride will that affect that in any way?
