If you are considering a revision rhinoplasty, it is very important to allow the nose to heal and soften with time. The nose often has a lot swelling and becomes very stiff during the initial healing process. This makes it difficult to perform a revision, and therefore it is best to wait a full year or sometimes longer before undergoing a revision.

Revision rhinoplasty after one year?
The Importance Of Waiting A Year Or More Before Having Another Nose Job
It takes at least 9 months to 1 year for swelling and scar tissue to abate. Operating sooner is more difficult with the risks of getting less than optimum results and building scar tissue on top of scar tissue. Most of the worst results I have seen, were the results of the patient demanding a reoperation too soon.
When to do revision rhinoplasty
The timeline for performing an additional nose surgery after a previous nose surgery depends on what needs to be addressed. Minor concerns, such as small bumps or puffiness, can be addressed with small office procedures, such as a steroid injection or needle shave. However, if we are considering a larger revision procedure, it is important to wait to allow the majority of the swelling to diminish so that an accurate assessment of what needs to be done can be made. Also, the nose will continue to change and refine for at least the first year after surgery and some concerns that may be seen early after surgery may resolve with time.

Waiting for revision
I actually like to wait 18 months. While most of the swelling is gone from over the bones by about 3 months, swelling in the tip can remain for 18 months. The tissues can be too firm and full of fluid to permit good healing. Also, what you do not like now, may look much better by 18 months.
Timing of Revisional Rhinoplasty
While it depends on the problem that needs a revision after the initial rhinoplasty, the softening of the tissues after a year makes secondary manipulation more predictable. In addition, a full year gives one the time to not only let the result fully reveal itself but also have the patient adjust to the new appearance of their nose. What bothers someone at three months after surgery, for example, mau become less relevant a year later.
Why wait for Revision Rhinoplasty
This is because the nose continues to change shape at least for one year and this is because of healing process is still on.In relation to nose the healing process means that the scar tissue that developed following any cut or surgery in the different planes of nose is slowly getting replaced by normal blood vessels thereby restoring the normal blood supply to all parts concerned and re-establish lymphatic channels to drain the lymph which is the culprit causing prolonged swelling of nose .Since revisions most of the times will be more difficult than the primary Rhinoplasty where each structure is well defined and is traceable into its normal or abnormal position in the revision rhinoplasty most structures are glued together because of fibrosis ( scarring ) , specially if one does not wait enough.Wish you Patience and good luck next time.
Why do you want to wait a year before revision rhinoplasty
Agree with all prior answers. As a comparison, would you try to repair an engine while the car is still running? Probably not, as it would be asking for trouble. Same with early revisions: you don't want to introduce new changes into the area that is still in the active process of healing. Doing this makes the final result very unpredictable and this is just an opposite of what we want to achieve. Having said that, some of the revisions, i.e. correction of an persistently severely deviated nose after prior rhinoplasty, may be undertaken sooner, even 3-6 months after the original surgery. Although it is still safer to wait till the healing process is complete.
Generally a year would be the time it takes in the majority of cases to complete healing of the nose. Thus, many surgeons prefer to wait, since operated nose requires a larger work.
However depending on what is necessary, the revision surgery can be done before. Your surgeon is the best person who can judge the proper time, based on analyzing individual risks and benefits.
Timing of Revision Rhinoplasty
We want the nose to heal before doing a revision procedure. In general we say that takes about a year because the nose will change during the healing process. An experienced revision specialist will help you determine the timing on an individual basis.
