Cellfina treatment areas...
Thank you for your question. It is best to remember Cellfina is indicated for dimple cellulite of the buttocks and thighs. Dimpling in other areas of your body may not be due to fibrous banding causing the dimpling and thus Cellfina would not be effective. There are currently investigators who are using Cellfina in off site locations to see what effect it may have, but this is not a widespread use of this device yet. Regards, Dr. Matt Elias
Cellfina on any area of the body?
Cellfina has been approved by the FDA to treat cellulite on the buttocks and thighs. Its use in other areas is considered "off label". Be careful in having these areas treated because the cause of the dents you describe may not be cellulite and may require a different treatment.
Candidate for cellulite treatment
Your cellulite problem is a common one. Fortunately, finally there are effective ways to minimize this problem. Perhaps the least invasive one is Cellfina™. Cellfina is the only FDA-cleared minimally invasive, one-time procedure clinically proven to improve the appearance of cellulite for at least two years—the longest FDA-cleared duration for a cellulite treatment. A straightforward solution to cellulite, Cellfina™, combines a proven approach with innovative, proprietary technology, to produce precise, long-lasting results and has a high satisfaction rating on RealSelf. Together with Velashape 3, a non invasive procedure to help "shrink wrap the skin" and further minimize cellulite as a combination treatment is perhaps your best chance for taking care of this tough problem. Cellulaze is also a possible treatment but much more invasive
Cellfina FDA Approved
Currently, Cellfina has FDA clearance for improving cellulite on the thighs and buttocks. All other areas are to be considered "off label".
Cellfina and arms
Cellfina transects the bands that cause cellulite. It has been shown to work effectively on the back of thighs and buttocks where the skin is thicker and the bands can be transected reliably. Other areas of the body have not been cleared for treatment. So at this time the arms would not be an area that I would treat.
Cellulite, Vaser Smooth, Thermi RF, Cellfina, Fat Transfer, Cellulaze, Subcision, Dimpling, Sculpsure, Coolsculpting
Cellfina is an FDA approved minimally invasive procedure that reduces the appearance of cellulite for at least two years on the buttocks and back of the thighs of women.
It works by releasing the internal bands that cause the cellulite dimpling and so we have not seen any fat atrophy. You should not see much of a difference with weight gain or loss but this also has not been studied.
Other areas of the body with dimpling, it is important to make sure it is truly cellulite before treatment.
It is common to have swelling bruising and firmness after the procedure. This can last for a few weeks.
It is different than Cellulaze which is a laser.
If you have had previous poor results with cellulaze, you can still do Cellfina.
Cellfina has shown 100% noticeable improvement and 96% satisfaction in all patients at 2 years.
Cellfina is designed to be a one time procedure.
It can be used on women with all skin types but caution should be taken if theres a history of keloiding.
It can also be combined with other treatments such as Thermi or
Ulthera if skin tightening is needed.
We have done Sculpsure and Coolsculpting if fat reduction is wanted, but its best to wait 3 months to see the results before proceeding.
It can also be done at the same time as other procedures such as liposuction and BBL or as a stand alone procedure in the office.
Since Cellfina outcomes can be based on technique and experience, please see a board certified plastic surgeon that specializes body contouring to see if Cellfina or other treatments are available to meet your goals.

Cellfina on other body areas
Currently, Cellfina is only FDA cleared to treat cellulite of the buttocks and posterior thighs. Areas that appear to be cellulite on other body parts, such as the arms, may not actually be due to the fibrous bands that cause cellulite and can be targeted by Cellfina. Our office is reserving the treatment for the areas studied and cleared by the FDA. I would recommend a consultation with an experienced provider who can evaluate your areas of concern and develop an appropriate treatment plan.
Cellfina is not meant for just ANY area of the body
Thank you for your question. Cellfina is FDA cleared and has been clinically tested for cellulite treatment only on the buttocks and the thighs.
Treatment of any other areas is considered off-label. "Dents" in the triceps region could be caused by multiple factors. It is possible that the cause could be related to subcutaneous fibrous bands or adhesions that might be effectively treated with the Cellfina system or by a related method. I would suggest that you have a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon who offers Cellfina and who has experience in body contouring procedures to help determine if Cellfina or some other procedure may be indicated to address your needs.
Best of luck!
It is important to
understand that Cellfina is used to treat deep-rooted cellulite. There are
often misconceptions on this treatment and what ailments it can address.
Cellfina is the only FDA-approved treatment to improve the appearance of
cellulite on the buttocks and thighs. If the trouble areas on your arms are a
result of loose skin, Cellfina will not alleviate this problem. It is best to
visit with a board-certified surgeon to determine if you are a good candidate
Cellulite in other locations
Thanks for your question! There are many causes of contour irregularities around the body. The dents that you are describing on the upper arm might respond to release of fiberous bands under the skin. Technically this is off-label use of the machine, but it might work if the situation is correct. I would recommend evaluation by a board certified plastic surgeon with experience with the cellfina machine. Best of luck!
