I used to have amazing thick hair when I was little and as soon as I hit puberty I feel like my hair has progressively got thinner. I'm 25 years old now and my hair never got better. Am I experiencing hair loss if so what kind ?

I appreciate you sharing your concerns. Based on what you’ve described, it’s possible that you may be experiencing hair thinning or hair loss, which can occur for a variety of reasons, including genetics, hormonal changes, or even stress.

Since you've noticed thinning since puberty, this could be related to androgenetic alopecia, commonly known as female pattern hair loss. However, there are other potential causes as well, such as nutritional deficiencies or other underlying conditions.

Yes, you are experiencing hair loss. I think there might be a little uncertainty here in this question as to how a medical professional goes about diagnosing hair loss. There is one way and only one way and that is 1) to listen to the entire story of the patient’s hair loss from day 1 until now, 2) to know everything about the patient’s past health from birth until the present day and 3) to have an opportunity to properly examine the scalp (including trichoscopy). None of these three steps are possible here so I’d just be guessing.  Statistically speaking a guess like androgenetic alopecia with or without elements of telogen effluvium stands a good chance of being correct but still - that’s purely educated guessing. Diagnosis of hair loss requires a proper review of facts.
