Thanks for your questions! Injectable silicone used for body contouring is not FDA-approved and can cause serious side effects that may be permanent or may even lead to death. Foreign body reaction (granuloma, fibrosis) ulcers, fistulas, infection and ptosis are common local complications after Biogel injections. The treatment varies among patients. This may range from surgical excision, to hyaluronidase injection followed by VASER Liposuction and fat transfer to the buttocks to correct the resultant deformity. After biogel injections the body reaction is forming a granuloma. Treatment is very difficult, and depending on how deep or how stuck to the skin it is it will need to be removed. Whether there is a need to soften it and decrease the reaction with medication ahead of the surgery that is decided after examination.
