I had a crown done on my upper molar 3 weeks ago. Do I need a root canal?

Had crown done on upper molar 3 weeks ago when I fractured the tooth apparently and an old filling leaked. Apparently decay got close to nerve but was told I was99% avoiding root canal as I came in quickly. I have some cold heat sensitive but it has improved I cannot chew a lot on that side only super soft food How long do I wait until I get a root canal if at all? There is no pain waking me at night or at any other time unless I bite down, chew

Pain on chewing

It is possible that your crown needs adjusting and this may alleviate the biting sensitivity. I suggest returning to your dentist and discussing your concerns. I don't think it's time to jump into a root canal yet.
