What is a Glare Sensitivity Test?

What is a glare sensitivity test and should one be requesting one before and after having LASIK?

A discussion of glare is worthwhile

A glare sensitivity test may be useful, but does not necessarily predict glare post operatively and may give a false sense of security.  A discussion of glare is worthwhile.

Glare Sensitivity Testing and LASIK

Glare sensitivity testing is an in office measurement, quite easy to do, however, it is more reserved for pre and post cataract, than LASIK. You are probably thinking of a way that glare could be avoided post LASIK and glare testing is not the way to do that. Before LASIK, we always do customized mapping of the patients cornea, then build a customized treatment profile for that unique corneal shape. With this information, we can do a customized treatment and greatly reduce pre and postoperative glare.
