What should I do about Retin-A and redness?

m.77
I was prescribed Retin-A about a year ago and not up until a few months ago I started noticing my skin getting red and my acne never got any better, it actually seemed to get worse. I can clearly see where i have been applying the Retin-A, as there is redness in the area on my face. where it is red on my skin there is more pimples and the places where I haven't applied the Retin-A there is no pimples and no redness. I stopped using the product for 2 weeks now and the redness is still there.
