I had a full mouth restoration done at Tufts University Dental School. Do I still get regular dental check ups?

First of all, congratulations on having such extensive work done and the best of luck with your new smile. It is imperative that you have regular maintenance visits to prolong the life span of these new restorations and to insure the health of your gums. After having so much treatment, I would recommend that you see the hygienist and dentist at least 3 times per year. Porcelain does not stain like natural teeth, therefore the shade that you chose will stay the lifetime of the restorations.

Yes....ABSOLUTELY! Depending on the condition of your teeth and gums, you can still get decay around and below your crowns and gum disease that can cause you to lose your teeth.You went through a lot, and obviously spent a lot of money with your dentistry. Protect your investment, see a dentist for a check up at least yearly, and have your teeth and gums professionally cleaned by his hygienist at least every six months. If you have gum disease, you may need dental prophylaxis (teeth cleanings) every three months.

With a mouthful of crowns, it is even more important to schedule regular dental checkups so that small problem will not turn into bigger one which might require more extensive treatment. Good luck!
