Tretinoin gel or cream for festoons (malar mounds)? I'm only 29 years. (Photo)

Question

I got small festoons on cheekbones but they are hardly noticable, its just started showing up, and my age is only 29 years. So i just heard tretinoin cream or gel can help to reduce it. So please let me know will this tretinoin helps me? If yes then should i use cream or gel? Thankyou

Thank you for your photos. Unfortunately tretinoin gel or cream is not indicated to treat festoons. Festoons are a combination of fat, ligaments, and fluid retention in those areas. Tretinoin affects skin turnover and dermal thickness and therefore would not adequately address the issues creating festoons. Festoons are better treated with surgical intervention if/once they become more severe. Hope this helps!Johnson C. Lee, MD
