1 year post op implant installed, healing cap came out and had pain last night. No pain today, but swelling. Is this normal?

When the healing cap comes off, the gums very quickly try to grow over the implant. So it's normal to have discomfort in the gums around the area when the healing cap is replaced. The gum tissue has to kind of stretch around the healing cap which will cause them to be irritated in that area. Keep the area clean and rinse with warm salt water for a few days. If it's more than just some discomfort in the gums, see your dentist.
