Having tummy tuck on 19th; what will I be able to do 2 days after op?

Post op activity following a tummy tuck

In the first 48 hours after a tummy tuck the only activity should be getting up and walking.  The most deadly complication following a tummy tuck is blood clots (DVT-deep vein thrombosis) in the legs that break off and travel to the lungs (pulmonary embolism).  Early ambulation is the key to preventing DVT.  No exercise, lifting or pulling is allowed immediately following a tummy tuck.  You should not lift over 15 pounds for the first week.
With the new drug, Exparel, a long acting local anesthetic that lasts around 3-4 days, ambulation is easier and less narcotic pain usage has contributed to a quicker recovery than previously.  Ask if Exparel is available for your tummy tuck.
Good luck!
