Jaw Surgery Relapse Rate, is this true?

I got my jaw surgery almost 8 years ago. It was done to fix my asymmetric jaw as well as underbite. From what I remember, the surgeon had to shave off a little bit of my lower jaw to push it back and align it perfectly with my upper jaw. The jaws were secured with tiny metal screws. I have not had any relapse so far and now I am in my mid-twenties. But lately, I have heard that there could be a relapse years after the surgery. Is this true?
