Pain under one porcelain veneer? (photo)

Two years ago I had fallen and chipped my front teeth badly. My dentist recommended to make the top 4 all veneers. Now the top right one has started hurting but looks fine. Last time I went for a checkup they wanted to fit me for a night guard, could that possibly me a fix? I'm scared of having to get the veneers taken off becaus they are so expensive and my insurance does not cover them.

Hello there,
I would assume that your dentist recommend a nightguard due to you grinding and/or clenching your teeth. Grinding and clenching causes extreme force on your teeth as well as tremendous pressure on your jaw. These habits can cause tooth problems (ie: tooth sensitivity, fracture, mobility) by putting pressure on your teeth. If these habits are in fact the reason a nightguard was recommended, then I would suggest following up with your dentist to have a nightguard made. Good luck and I hope this helps.
