How many sessions (est) will it take for a tattoo to be totally removed? (photo)

It's still new, will any procedure be more effective if the tattoo is older? Or newer tattoo is easier to erase?

How many sessions to remove tattoo?

Hello,  The number of sessions necessary can only be estimated.  Depending on the device being used, it can be 10-20 treatments, or with the latest technology, The PicoWay Laser (Candela/Syneron) uses photoacoustic impact/pressure waves rather than photothermal/heat.This process has less heat, therefore it is more comfortable and the chances of hyperpigmentation are less. The Pico-second pulse shatters the ink into even smaller particles, allowing the body to more easily absorb the ink. It will generally be about half as many treatments as the Q-switch device. Either way, you should make sure that you are choosing a dermatology office that specializes in skin care.

Good Luck!

Tattoo removal time varies

With the more widespread use of picosecond lasers the time to removal should be around 5-6 treatments especially because of the uniform black coloration of the tattoo.
With older nanosecond lasers the tattoo could take 10-12 treatments.  One variable that should be considered is what type of ink and how much ink was deposited into the skin by the tattoo artist.  This can make removal time estimate very difficult.  The estimates above are a general rule.

Tattoo Removal

It will take at least five or more sessions with the laser to remove this tattoo. The fact that it is black should make it easier to remove. Best, Dr. Green

Tattoo removal

The number of sessions will depend on the ink colors used and the depth of the ink. I would suggest that you schedule a consultation with someone who uses the PicoSure device. It's the best laser on the market and works 3x faster than all other lasers.

Tattoo sessions

There's a lot of ink in that tattoo. I'm actually wondering if it was a cover up because of the density in the circle. Don't be fooled, this tattoo will take a lot of treatments regardless of the laser used. The pico variety can potentially lessen the treatment numbers. Expect at least 10 treatments. Good luck, Dr. M

The number of sessions varies with ink and type of laser.A nanosecond laser can require 12 or more sessions and may require a 2 year process, A icons expand laser could work in as few as 4 sessions when combined with r 20 two treatments on the same session
