Fraxel Vs Profractional XC Laser

What is the difference between the Fraxel and the Profractional XC laser both from a technical perspective, and also, from a healing and recovery perspective?

Fraxel has three different platforms, so in order to compare these accurately I would need to know to which of the three you are referring.

1. Fraxel re:store Dual wavelength system, with a deeper penetrating Erbium fiber laser (1550 nm), and a, more superficial Thulium fiber laser (1927 nm).

2. Fraxel re:pair fractional CO2 laser

3. Fraxel re:fine nonablative fractional 1410 laser

Profractional XC is an 2940 erbium laser that has settings to perform non-ablative or combination of ablative and non-ablative fractional resurfacing.

The 2940 wavelength is closer to the absorption of water and further away from the absorption spectra of melanin and hemoglobin, which makes the Profractional laser effective in treating dermal issues but decreases the risk of side effects like scarring and hypopigmentation.

CO2 laser resurfacing is effective but has a higher risk of side effects than erbium resurfacing.

As for the recovery time, it depends on the depth of the laser treatment and on the percentage of skin treated at one time.
