Did my surgery fail?

I got surgery on both eyes in December, I got the sling in both eyes. Its been almost 4 months and I know I will see the full results at 6 months, but my eyes just seem to have gotten a little better but I have really droopy eyes still. My right eye has a crease and my left eye has a slight crease but then stops about halfway. My eyes seem heavy too. Could my doctor have messed up my eyes? Do I have to get surgery again? I feel really depressed when I go to school and work.

  • If your surgery was not done at a University Hospital by a Board Certified Opthalmologic Surgeon, consider having a consultation at your nearest medical school hospital.
  • Explain the situation and ask to see the doctor who specializes in this kind of surgery. Best wishes.

Frontalis sling surgery is very complicated.

Very few surgeons in practice do enough of these procedures unless they are University bases.  Even then, the choices are not ideal.  The results are not cosmetic.  It is very difficult to make an eyelid that looks normal with a ptosis sling procedure.  You might seek several opinions but I would recommend seeking them from university based oculoplastic surgeons.  Good luck.
