I'm 58 yr old woman who had a breast reduction & lift. 2 wks post op, my lower breasts developed redness. Is this normal?(photo)

About 2 weeks post op, my lower breasts developed redness. I had no fever and my breasts were not warm to touch. I went on a 10 day course of Augmentin. My breasts did not get any better. The area of redness has very slowly increased. I've seen my surgeon and he does not know why this has happened. Has anyone seen this before and when should it be resolving?

Redness after surgery

There are various reasons why you may develop redness.  Possible infection is the most common reason but it sounds like that has been ruled out.  Sometimes the blood flow gets altered and the blood vessels under the skin may open up causing colour change.  Sometimes its just a bruise (but unlikely in your pictures).  At this stage all you can do is wait for your body to heal.

Thanks for using RealSelf. Interesting postop issue - redness without infection. Have you had a blood count to see if WBC increased? Any fever or cills? Are you very skin sensitive person? Allergies to anything? In my over the internet opinion three possible diagnosis. Infection with low grease cellulitis. Allergic dermatitis. Reaction to deep sutures. Follow up would be nice..
