5 days ago I had laser hair removal on my neck and chin. After the procedure I was very red and had small red bumps (follicular edema). The redness subsided in about 24 hours, but the red bumps have stayed and some have even grown larger and become whiteheads. In the last 3 days I have applied some OTC cortisone ointment but it has not made any noticeable difference. Is this normal this long after a procedure?
Answer: Red and Bumpy after Laser Hair Removal--contact Doctor for cortisone solution Every so often, we do see an itchy bumpy rash following laser hair removal. This is usually because of irritation of the hair follicles in the treated area, and this can be easily treated with a mild cortisone preparation. I suggest contacting your Dr. for a topical solution. Best, Dr. Emer

Answer: Redness Thank you for providing pictures. It is expected to have a desireble irritation post laser hair reduction treatment. On average the irritation may last from few hours to couple of days. In some cases the irritation can last up to two weeks. Especially if the hairs are coarse the irritation will be longer. In any case, make sure your address the issue to the provider of treatment. I'm optimistic about the outcome. Hope this was helpful. Dr. O. Vinson

Answer: If it persists see your Dermatologist Hi, red bumps are expected after laser hair removal. However they should usually resolve within a few days. If they bumps persist, enlarge, become painful or dain, I would follow up with your dermatologist to be evaluated for an infection or the need for other topical treatment. Thank you!
