Is miraDry permanent?

Yes, once the sweat and odor glands are microwaved using miraDry they cannot "re-grow". Typically in our office, patients require 1-2 to achieve desired results. Majority see about a 75% reduction in sweat AND odor with the first treatment!

MiraDry for Underam Odor

Hi and thank you for your question!

Yes, miraDry does work to permanently reduce both odor and sweat. As stated below most patients see anywhere from 75-90% reduction with both sweat and odor within 1 - 2 treatments. There is no way to predict how many treatments each person will need. I can tell you it has been life changing for our patients who have done it!

The Sweat Stops Here

Since sweat glands do not grow back or regenerate, there is a dramatic and lasting reduction of sweat. It has a very high patient satisfaction rate but do keep in mind that it may require two treatments to achieve 70-80% efficacy.

MiraDry for Underarm Odor

MiraDry is very effective in permanently eliminating odor, sweat and under arm hair.  Patients notice a reduction in the amount of their underarm sweat almost immediately after the procedure.  Most patients report a dramatic reduction, but not complete elimination, of their underarm sweat with one treatment.  In a recent clinical study, the average sweat reduction was 82% after two treatments.  Patient with hyperhidrosis sometimes need 2-3 treatments.  I recommend an in person consultation to determine how many treatments you may need. Good Luck!

Odor goes away!

There are apocrine sweat glands under your arms that produce odor.  Those glands produce odor unlike eccrine glands that produce sweat.  MiraDry deactivates those glands with thermal energy and the cooling protects the skin.  The effect is permanent.  Sometimes a second treatment is needed.

MiraDry and under arm odor

MiraDry is extremely successful at dramatically diminishing excessive underarm sweating.  Since underarm odor is linked to bacteria in a sweaty environment, by eliminating that environment much of the odor should be gone too.  Most patients require only a single session for a permanent result, but there is a proportion of patients who do require a second session, but with current protocols that number has diminished significantly.

The reduction

of sweat and odor can be dramatic to almost complete.  Many patients can get away with one treatment but of course everyone is different.

Thank you for your question.MiraDry permanently reduces underarm sweat and odour. How many treatments you are likely to need can vary and should be discussed at your consultation, Typically 1 or 2 sessions are required, occasionally a third may be necessary depending on the severity of your problem and the machine settings used.
