Exercise/lifting after ptosis and upper blepharoplasty surgery?

I am getting eyelid surgery in a week and I was wondering when I might resume exercise (weight lifting, running, yoga) following surgery? I've seen recommendations range from 2-5 weeks following surgery. Is there a logic to this? Why is weight lifting dangerous following eyelid surgery? Does bending/stopping/squatting somehow have a potential to damage the muscle? Many thanks in advance for your answers!

Hi idkman,Thanks for your question. Exercising too soon after surgery increases the risk of bleeding and hematoma formation. These can cause delayed healing and post-operative asymmetry. We usually ask our patients to avoid exercise for 2 weeks. At 2 weeks, they may resume 50% of their normal physical activity and then at 1 month, they may return to their full regimen. I hope this helps, good luck!
