Which antibiotic is typically used to treat redness from periostitis after rhinoplasty?

I have redness on my nasal bridge along with a bump/swelling due to periostitis according to my PS. Which antibiotic covers the bacteria that cause this? I was given Keflex.

Antibiotic after rhinioplasty

Dear jmd1031,

Keflex is a good antibiotic to use after rhinoplasty, it will cover most skin infections and gram positive bacteria. This is commonly used after rhinoplasty, and I prescribe this myself after rhinoplasty surgery.  If you do not improve after a few days I would return to see your plastic surgeon. They may recommend an additional antibiotic or change your antibiotic for more broader bacterial coverage. Best regards, Gina Chu, MD
