Has Cellulaze Been Approved by the FDA?

Yes, it was just approved by the FDA this week (1/30/12).  It is a laser treatment that divides the fiber that cause the puckering of the skin, it also stimulates collagen production to increase the thickness of the skin, and it destroys protruding fat cells in the thinned skin of cellulite depressions.

Has Celulaze been approved by the FDA? Help!

{{ voteCount >= 0 ? '+' + (voteCount + 1) : (voteCount + 1) }}

Celulaze was very recently approved by the FDA in November of 2011. It appears to be a long-standing single treatment for cellulite that can be performed under local anesthesia or in combination with liposuction. We were one of the five test centers conducting the FDA clinical trials. Our patients all rated the outcome in appearance. 8/10, and will satisfy. It utilizes a side firing fiber with a special 1440 nm wavelength. The specifics of this are not as important as the results. The fiber can literally melt the hills, divide the bands that cause the dimpling or indentations, and uniformly heat the under surface of the skin promoting skin tightening and smoothness. Good luck – Dr. Joe Hunstad

Yes, Cellulaze was approved by the FDA in January of 2012. Because its a new procedure we encourage anyone looking for this procedure to find a Doctor who has been performing Smartlipo as it is most similar to that procedure. We have high patient satisfaction with our Cellulaze treatments.

Cellulaze now FDA approved and available in Arizona

Very exciting news this month in the world of cellulite reduction. Cellulaze is FDA approved and becoming more widely available at elite plastic surgery practices nationwide. My practice in Arizona is the first and only to receive the program, and we are extremely optimistic about the results based on the extensive testing and results I've seen over the last couple years. The procedure itself is minimally invasive, and only takes about an hour to perform in the office under local anesthesia. Our patients like that they can have the treatment and then go on with their normal activities with minimal discomfort. Versus traditional liposuction, it is a very comfortable and safe alternative for patients desiring a reduction in cellulite.

I recently presented our 3 year results at the American Society of Laser Medicine and Surgery Meeting.  The FDA looked at these data and advanced the approval now to say "long term".

Thats a big deal for a single treatment of cellulite

Cellulaze for long lasting treatment of cellulite

{{ voteCount >= 0 ? '+' + (voteCount + 1) : (voteCount + 1) }}

Thanks for the question.  The answer is yes.  Cellulaze is the first FDA approved minimally invasive, one-time treatment for cellulite.  It utilizes a 1440 nm side-firing laser fiber optic to treat the three main causes of cellulite:  It breaks down the fatty bulges, then cuts the fibrous septae that cause dimpling, then finally stimulates the dermis to shrink and thicken in order to improve the look of you cellulite areas.  I hope this helps and best of luck!  Robert Kratschmer, MD, board certified in Plastic Surgery

Cellulaze is an exciting development in the world of aesthetic medicine for both dermatologic surgeons as well as plastic surgeons as nothing we have to date (including liposuction) has delivered the lasting and consistent improvement of the appearance of Cellulite as we have witnessed from Cellulaze, which has had more than 4 years of clinical trial experience in both Europe and U.S.A.
