Gap in revision after trimming or shortening of columella?

Quick question. If a trimming or shortening of a columella strut is needed... wont there now be a gap between the new location of the end of the strut and the tissue??

It is important to choose your surgeon based on extensive experience, and not try to choose some specific technique performed during a revision rhinoplasty. In our practice, we rarely use columella struts due to the complications we've seen from them. The strut can be trimmed down or removed, and they are usually held in place by scar tissue or sutures
