How will an orthodontist create 'root space' for dental implant?

Question

After making an appointment for dental implants, I was recently told that there wasn't enough space for a dental implant. Now i am being referred back to my orthodontist to create more 'root space' for my lateral teeth. How will this procedure be done? I am already missing 2 of my lateral teeth and I am afraid they will need to pull a tooth out. Will a tooth extraction be necessary since I'm already missing most my front teeth. Also will I still be able to wear my retainer with fake teeth?

no need to worry about that. its very easy job for orthodontist to create space without any extraction. there r many ways to create space[eg. open coil spring] . so better , ask yr orthodontist by what method , he is planning to open space.

An orthodontist would put braces on your teeth to move them into alignment where they should be and thus, creating the space for the implant. It is unlikely that they would need to pull more teeth out since you are missing some already. The best way is to sit down with the orthodontist and ask them what would be involved. You can then get a specific answer for your specific treatment. With braces on, you won't be able to wear your retainer but fake teeth will be placed on the braces themselves  so it would look the same or very similar
