I want to do a liposuction and tummy tuck what's the process?

What to do before considering a tummy tuck and lipo

Thank you for your question. You should first meet with a board certified plastic surgeon to have a proper evaluation so you can discuss all your options. Your plastic surgeon will then help you determine which procedure(s) would be best for you to achieve your desired result. You want to be at your ideal weight, a weight that you have comfortably maintained for at least 6 months, before undergoing a tummy tuck or liposuction procedure. Sometimes more than one consultation is needed to be able to find a doctor that you feel comfortable with. Best of luck. James Lee

I want to do a liposuction and tummy tuck what's the process?

The first thing you need to do before having a TT and liposuction is to schedule a consultation with a Board Certified PS. You need to be examined to make sure that you are a candidate for the above surgeries. The surgeon then can explain to you the nature of the operations, recovery  time and possible complications. Your surgeon will. also review your medical history. You should request to see before and after photos of the procedures. Good luck!

Tummy tuck with liposuction

Wendy,
The vast majority of abdominoplasties that I perform are with liposuction of the sides and lower back.  The process is to be seen by a board certified plastic surgeon to find out if you are a candidate.  The procedure can take from 2 - 4 1/2 hours and is perfromed at my office and you are sent home within 2 hours after its completion.  The lower belly skin and fat are removed, the muscles tightened and your belly button is brought out of the new  flap at it's same location through a small round hole.  You are generally out of work for 1 week if no liposuction is performed, and anywhere from 10-14 days if liposuction is perfomed.
Best of luck with your search.

Combined Procedures for Mommy Makeover

Additional procedures that may enhance the result are Liposuction, Breast Procedures, or Thigh Lift. Mommy makeovers usually include multiple operations.  Brazilian “butt enhancement” can be done at the same time to provide best body contours. Arm reduction or brachiaplasty is also common.

Get the ball rolling for a tummy tuck and liposuction procedure

Now that you have decided to start the process, the hardest part can be making the first phone call to a doctors office!  Don't be embarrassed when you call, this is what plastic surgeons do.  Research board certified plastic surgeons that do alot of body contouring procedures and call to set up a consultation.  Find an office where the staff is helpful when you call, as you are choosing not only the surgeon, but his support staff who will be assisting you both before and after surgery.  Once your consultation is scheduled, you may want to jot down your questions and take this list with you to your appointment.  Your surgeon may answer all your questions when explaining the procedure and you may not even have to ask!  Ask to see before and after pictures so you can get a realistic idea of results other patients who are similar to you have achieved.  After your consultation, you will probably be given exact information on costs associated with your procedure.  If you need financing, ask the office if they can help you with this as many practices do offer financing.  When scheduling your procedure, be sure to consider upcoming events or vacations you may have planned to ensure you will have adequate recovery time.  Best of luck to you!

Tummy Tuck with Liposuction

Thank you for your question. A tummy tuck with the combination of liposuction is a very common procedure. Be sure to find a board certified plastic surgeon who has performed at least 100 of these procedures a year.

During the 2-5 hour tummy tuck procedure, a horizontal incision is
made beneath the bikini line. Loose skin is trimmed away, and the
loose underlying tissues and muscles are tightened by bringing them
together with sutures. A second incision may also be made around the
navel to correct loose skin in the upper abdomen. It may be possible to
improve the appearance of stretch marks if loose skin that has stretch
marks is removed from the lower abdomen, although a dramatic change
should not be expected.A tummy tuck with liposuction can achieve a toned and tightened
appearance that some thought could only be achieved through a more
extensive body lift.  You may be a candidate for this procedure if you
have pockets of unwanted fat in addition to loose abdominal skin.To reduce swelling, a compression garment will be worn for
approximately 4 weeks after surgery. To help promote blood circulation,
you will be encouraged to get out of bed and take short walks. Most
patients find they are able to return to work and driving in 2 weeks and
exercise in 6 weeks.Hope this helps,Dr. Newall

Tummy tuck

Hello and thank you for your question. If you are an appropriate candidate, a tummy tuck can be done through a low and short incision, all completely below the bikini line, along with waist sculpting liposuction.  Your muscles can also be plicated resulting in a flat abdomen.  Make sure you specifically look at before and after pictures of real patients who have had this surgery performed by your surgeon and evaluate their results.  The most important aspect is to find a surgeon you are comfortable with. I recommend that you seek consultation with a qualified board-certified plastic surgeon who can evaluate you in person.

Best wishes and good luck.

What to do

Pick a plastic surgeon -- board certified and set up a consultation. That is the best way, also  usually you can go see more than one. Then get all of your questions answered.

Liposuction, tummy tuck

thank you for your question. The most important thing is to find a surgeon you trust. Online research should help you familiarize yourself with what is possible surgically. An in person consultation is absolutely essential so that you and your surgeon can discuss your specific concerns and anatomy. Best of luck!
