Intra-abdominal fat and liposuction?
Unfortunately, intra-abdominal, or visceral, fat is not treatable with liposuction or any of the nonsurgical options for fat reduction. That location of fat has to be taken care of the old-fashioned way--weight loss. Exercise is important, but modifying eating habits is crucial. Try to eat an abundance of veggies, fruits, beans, and whole grains--filling and satisfying foods that are dense in nutrition, but not in calories.
Intra-abdominal fat is only treated by diet and exercise. Liposuction is not used on that fat. Best of luck.
Liposuction - will it remove intra-abdominal fat
Thank you for asking about your liposuction.
- Unfortunately, the only way to lose intra-abdominal fat is to either lose the weight -
- Or to have a gastric by-pass, if you meet the criterion to have one -
- It is usually being about 100 pounds or so overweight.
- Ask your regular doctor if you would benefit from this surgery.
Always see a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon. Best wishes - Elizabeth Morgan MD PHD FACS
Intraabdominal fat treatment options?
Unfortunately, there are no surgical options for treatment of intra-abdominal fat. In your circumstance, diet and exercise are the only solutions to address your concerns. If you haven't already done so, consider joining a gym and hiring a personal trainer and/or nutritionist. These options will be far healthier, safer, more successful and far less expensive than any surgical modality.Best of luck!
Liposuction only treats external fat
Liposuction does not treat internal visceral fat. Diet and exercise will treat this. If you are having trouble with diet and exercise depending on how much fat there is sometimes bariatric surgery such as gastric bypass, gastric sleeves, or lap bands is a good solution. Good luck!!
Unforatunately visceral fat can only be removed by diet and exercise; Liposuction can't reach under the muscles where the visceral fat lies. Liposuction can only reach the sub-cutaneous fat that is pinchable.
