Costs for a breast capsulectomy/implant removal will certainly vary depending on your geographic location. Things to factor in for the procedure standpoint will be the facility fee, anesthesia fee, surgeon fee, other fees (e.g., liposuction/fat grafting, surgical garment, addition of a breast lift, and replacement type of implant, if used, use of a dermal matrix, capsule removal, etc.). A range in price ~$4-8K would be a reasonable cost on average for a standard capsulectomy/implant removal. A consultation with a plastic surgeon will help you in determining which procedure(s) would be the right one for you. Cost also depends on the complexity of your case and how much work would need to be done to achieve an aesthetically-pleasing result for you. Good luck!

The costs of surgery vary greatly across the country. We charge starting about $2300 + MD Anesthesia Related Costs for breast implant removal.

One main advantage that we have is that we own our AAAASF nationally accredited surgery center. This allows us to maintain staff and MD Anesthesiologist relationships, and manage the costs which allows us to provide a safe and comfortable environment.

The specific fees that a plastic surgeon charges will vary throughout the country and the world.  Your plastic surgeon may not charge you as much to take out an implant that he/she placed.  Otherwise you would need to make a few consultations and determine the best option for you.

Costs for implant removal, what gets done

{{ voteCount >= 0 ? '+' + (voteCount + 1) : (voteCount + 1) }}

The cost for a breast implant removal will depend on if the implants will be replaced, and the condition of the capsule around the implant. If say , you have had a worn silicone implant with a stiff and calcified capsule, the surgery will cost more and the recovery more of a challenge. Intact breast implants can often be removed under local or with light sedation at a fairly low cost.

Best of luck,

Cost of an explantation

{{ voteCount >= 0 ? '+' + (voteCount + 1) : (voteCount + 1) }}

The cost of an explantation would depend on several factors including location and in NY, prices will be much higher than the national average. If the implants are intact and you don't require the removal of a breast capsule, the costs will be less versus a capsulectomy and removal of ruptured implants.

Having this performed in an office vs outpatient center vs a hospital will also affect the price as would the type of anesthesia used: straight local anesthesia versus sedation or general.

You can inquire of several plastic surgeons in your area to obtain a better idea of the costs that you would be facing.

With capsulectomy, expect the cost to be atleast as much as the original augmentation surgery. Capsulectomy will require a drain as well.

If your breast implants are relatively new and there is no significant capsular contracture, it may be possible to remove them in the surgeons office procedure room which would make the cost lower. If you have older implants that could be ruptured or if you need to have the capsules removed also, then the procedure may need to be done in an operating room and the cost will be higher.
