Never try to just bear the pain after surgery. Take your pain meds for the first few days and be comfortable and have a better experience. You can be more active if you are taking your pain meds and therefore recover fast also.

Pain after liposuction

Thank you for asking about your liposuction.

  • The pain after liposuction varies with the area treated and the amount of fat removed.
  • Assuming that your entire tummy is treated and about 2500 cc are removed, you will hurt for 3 - 5 days and be quite stiff and sore for several weeks after that.
  • The pain is usually enough to require some pain medicine the first few days but I have not had a patient say it is intolerable -
  • Although you can hurt a lot if you do not rest for the first 5 days.

If done under anesthesia most patients will have some discomfort when they go home. Liposuction in general is not too painful. Most can go back to routine activities within 2-3 days.
