Can we do regular facials when we are taking treatment like using ointments and medicines for acne problems?

Oxygen facials

It depends on the facial. You would be a great candidate for the Oxygen Facial. The facial begins with a surface cleansing of the skin and a light glycolic acid treatment. This is followed by treatment with steam and extraction of any pimples. Then, a soothing and purifying mask is applied to the face. The final step in the facial is the application of oxygen. The Acne Facial improves acne, lightens any dark blemishes, and leaves the skin glowing. The facial should be repeated at monthly intervals until the skin is clear, and should be thought of as an integral component of the acne care program.

Thanks for your query. Regular facials should be avoided while on acne medications. You can go in for chemical peeling and medical facials that would be more helpful. Hope it helps. All The Best

Facials for Acne Problems

Facials can be very helpful when combating acne.  The most important thing to remember is that a facial should always be customized to the individual's skin.  For acne in particular, there are great products, extraction techniques, and light based treatments that can help your acne clear up.  Also, your doctor and aesthetician can work together to get you on the most appropriate at home skin care regimen.  As your acne clears up, your treatments and skin care should also change to help maintain your clearer skin.  Be sure to keep your doctor and aesthetician in the loop regarding your treatments and skin care.

Facial

Be careful not to have over aggressive facials but clearing out whiteheads and blackheads can speed up the process. Retinoids such as tretinoin or adapalene or tazprac gradually improve acne prone sin and help fine lines.

Can we do regular facials when we are taking treatment like using ointments and medicines for acne problems?

Yes, it is fine to do regular facials (I recommend them once a month) while using topical and prescription treatments for acne. Although if you are prescribed acutane please have a consultation with your dermatologist first. They can give you the go ahead for a facial. A gentle medical facial would be beneficial in helping treat persistent acne.

Sometimes chemical peels as well as LED light treatments help with treating acne and can be combined with your facial. Make sure to treat your skin gently and go to a professional that is familiar with your specific and individual needs.

Regular Facials may actually help your acne

Extractions and facials can be great tools to remove blackheads and pustules on your face.  They can be an adjunct to medical therapy.  There is a video lecture I gave the Vegas Cosmetic Surgery meeting on top 10 acne treatment tips that you can YouTube, which may be helpful.  We have a MedSpa here at LV Derm, where acne patients are encouraged to get microdermabrasion, facials and peels as part of an acne treatment regimen.
