What Are the Basic Elements of a Mommy Makeover?

Can only part of the recommended surgeries be done for it still to be considered a mommy makeover?

You choose what you'd like

A mommy makeover is all about what you would like done. Therefore, you can definitely choose the treatments you'd like to have done. The term mommy makeover is really just a way to classify plastic surgery treatments for women after they've had children. It's not a technical term.

Mommy Makeover

A mommy Makeover often includes a tummy tuck and breast surgery. Perhaps a breast lift, or maybe a lift with implants. The procedures included are based on your goals and your priorities.

Elements of a Mommy Makeover

As a
plastic surgeon and mother myself, I understand the difficulty many mothers
face trying to return to their previous shape after having children. That's why
I am dedicated to empowering mothers to look and feel just the way they want
through a Mommy Makeover.  If the physical effects of
pregnancy have left your body misshapen with sagging breasts, stretched stomach
or bulging hips and thighs, Mommy Makeover surgery, which may include breast
lift, breast augmentation, breast reduction, liposuction, tummy tuck or other
body sculpting procedures, can help you take back your figure. Rather than a set formula of procedures, a Mommy Makeover involves a highly individualized approach to achieving a patient’s desired
outcomes with optimal safety and comfort in mind.  As always, it is important to set up a
consultation with board-certified plastic surgeon in order to understand your
options, not just in terms of the procedures themselves but other important
issues such as cost and recovery as well.

Mommy makeover procedures

It is totally up to you what you'd like to have done for your mommy makeover. Common procedures performed include a tummy tuck, breast lift, and breast augmentation. Liposuction is also popular.

The Mommy Makeover: Combination of Cosmetic Breast Surgery, Liposuction and Tummy Tuck

The mommy makeover is one of the most popular operations performed by plastic surgeons. This operation has been designed to correct changes in the body that are associated with pregnancy. The procedure is a combination of cosmetic breast surgery, liposuction, and abdominoplasty. Although the majority of mommy makeover patients will require all three of these operative procedures, some patients may need lesser combinations. This is dependent entirely upon the patient’s unique anatomic deformity.

There are multiple advantages when these procedures are performed in combination. These include an improved overall result, lowered cost, and a single recovery. Patients typically report increased self-esteem, self-image, and an overall improvement in the quality of their lives. For these reasons, the mommy makeover is one of the most popular operations that is currently performed in plastic surgery.

What Are the Basic Elements of a Mommy Makeover?

Mommy Makeover What Is Included?

Thank you for your question.

Yes many women decide to have only one element of a Mommy Makeover, usually a Breast Augmentation with Implants or a Tummy Tuck.

As originally described by Dr Stevens a Mommy Makeover was procedures designed to correct Breast and Tummy changes that occur during pregnancy.

Most commonly it combined a Breast Lift, Breast Augmentation with Implants and a Tummy Tuck. The Tummy Tuck can be a Mini, or in the case of split abdominal muscles a Full Abdominoplasty with repair of the Diastasis Recti.

For many women a Breast Augmentation with Implants and a Mini Tummy Tuck are all that is required

What Are The Five Elements That Usually Make Up A Mommy Makeover?

The five elements that are normally discussed in a Mommy Makeover are:
     1.  Tummy tuck with correction of separated muscles
     2.  Liposuction of one or more areas (baby fat)
     3.  Breast enhancement (lift, augmentation or both)
     4.  Labiaplasty
     5.  Dealing with the mask of pregnancy
Choose a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon with lots of experience in the Mommy Makeover.  You can certainly choose to do all of these procedures at once or break these up into multiple surgeries based on the good advice of your plastic surgeon.

Mommy makeover

Great question!  Generally speaking, a "mommy makeover" is a set of surgeries designed to correct the changes that happen after pregnancy. But every women's body is different and every women's body responds differently to pregnancy, so the best thing for you to do is meet with at least one board certified plastic surgeon who will examine you and discuss your goals and desires with you. Then, the two of you can create a plan that works for you.  It will usually involve at least a tummy tuck with liposuction and a breast augmentation, with or without a lift. I hope that helps and wish you the best of luck!
