Difference Between Coolsculpting and Laser Liposuction

Coolsculpting is a non invasive procedure that utilizes cold to permanently remove unwanted fat.  People can expect up to a 25% reduction in fat per given area. There is no downtime and few adverse reactions noted with the coolsculpting procedures. Many areas can be treated including the abdomen, flanks, arm fat, back fat and bra fat, as well as the chin, outside and inner upper thighs.  Coolsculpting is not a weight loss device and those that are obese are likely not candidates for the procedure.  In addition, several treatments may be required in a given area to get the desired results.

Laser Lipo is an invasive procedure which is often times performed under local anesthesia and sometimes light sedation where a wand gets inserted through an incision into the area and a laser light at the end of the wand liquefies the fat.  Again just like coolsculpting, this is not meant as a n option for weight loss or to remove significant amounts of fat from a give area.  Traditional liposuction may be best option for those with more than modest amounts of fat.

There may be some soreness following both procedures but there is typically a quick recovery and clients can resume normal activities the following day.

What is the difference between laser lipo and cool sculpting. Which is preferable?

Thank you for your question. CoolSculpting is a non-surgical procedure that eliminates 25% of fat cells in a treatment area each treatment round. It is for those who have stubborn areas of fat that they cant lose with diet and exercise. Many people like it because there is no downtime associated with the procedure. Laser lipo is a surgical procedure and is more invasive. However, it gives more dramatic results which people also like. Choosing between the two depends on your goals and which treatment you are a better candidate for. If you are interested in moving forward, I would recommend seeing a board certified plastic surgeon for a consultation. This way, you can explain your concerns, explore different procedures, and find an option that fits your desires. An in-person assessment is always best. Regards,

It Depends on the Treated Area

Laser-assisted liposuction and CoolSculpting are 2 very different treatmentsCoolSculpting is completely noninvasive, which means it doesn't break the skin, while laser liposuction is a surgical procedure. CoolSculpting typically has no downtime, whereas laser liposuction can require about a week of rest at home. As for the question of which is better, it really depends on the area you wish to treat, as well as your own personal preferences. For example, if you wish to avoid surgery and are looking to reshape an area such as your thighs, abdomen, or double chin, then CoolSculpting is a good option. If you have a more significant amount of fat to remove and you can afford to take some time off from work, liposuction is probably a better choice. It's best to discuss your specific circumstances with a plastic surgeon or dermatologist near you. Good luck with your decision.

Depends on Amount of Fat Reduction

One technology is not necessarily preferable to the other. Choosing one or the other really comes down to your aesthetic goals and the amount of fat reduction you desire. CoolSculpting is a noninvasive treatment that doesn't require any downtime. It's approved by the FDA and can reduce fat by about 20 to 25% in the treatment areas. Laser liposuction is a minimally invasive surgical procedure performed using a local anesthetic. The results are more dramatic, with up to 80% fat reduction. To determine what's best for you, consult with a board-certified plastic surgeon.

Lipo vs. Cool Sculpting

Remember that Liposuction is almost always superior to Cool Sculpting but obviously surgery. We have patients choose Cool Sculpt because they seek non invasive options or have just the right amount of extra volume that is treatable with cool sculpting. Always seek consultation in a practice where the RN is experienced in both options and can educate you on the right option for you. Each has it's advantages and expectations but of course one is surgical and the other is not.

Laser Lipo versus Coolsculpting

CoolSculpting is only treating 20-25% of the fat cells in an area. It's a non-invasive fat reduction treatment.  Laser Lipo is a procedure that is done in the operating room. This not only targets fat but can tighten the skin as well. Schedule a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon to talk about your options.

Laser Lipo vs. Coolsculpting

Good question.  "Laser Lipo" is a generic term that is used a lot to describe both non-invasive and invasive laser technology devices.  The more important term to look for when you're doing your research is the brand or the "laser lipo" that is being offered, the brand's FDA clearance (which body areas it's approved for) and the reviews associated with such.

Coolsculpting on the other hand is a permanent non-invasive solution to target specific pockets of unwanted fat in areas such as abdomen, thighs, etc.

Hope this helps in clearing up some "terms" for you.  Best of luck, Doc Halliday
