What is the differences between Liposuction and Coolsculpting in price for reduction of one area?

I've been researching both liposuction and cool sculpting techniques for reducing fat cells and am just wondering about price differences.

CoolSculpting is the kinder gentler liposuction

Both CoolSculpting and liposuction produce permanent fat reduction.  CoolSculpting is completely non invasive, rarely has any recovery discomfort and does not require any type of anesthesia.  You can return to all of your normal activities the same day. Results will depend on the skill of the provider in assessing and treating you.  Cost relates to the size of the area and whether one or two treatments at the sight is recommended.
Liposuction remains the "gold standard" of fat reduction and is an excellent procedure. It is however surgery with the inherent risks including those from anesthesia.  Recovery can be tough (feels like being hit by a truck one patient relayed).  Results are very good when done by a qualified experienced physician.
As for cost, for a small area CoolSculpting is usually a much better value.  When many areas are treated the cost does go up.  Many people do opt for CoolSculpting even if the cost is the same as liposuction to avoid surgery.

How to waste money on freezing fat.

you can spend $2-3000 on something gimmicky that doesn't do anything or very little if that after waiting 3 months or you can spend $5000 on liposuction that really works for sure and see a difference fast. Both are easy to undergo with quick recovery and back to work fast. Sincerely, David Hansen,MD

Coolsculpting is an excellent form of non-invasive  fat reduction for the right patient. Some applicators take 1 or 2 hours but the new advantage applicators take only 35 minutes and have significantly less risk for delayed onset pain (especially in the abdomen). Results are seen at 2 months and typically 1-3 treatments will be necessary on each area to achieve ideal results. The number of treatments depends on the amount of fat there and the patient's goals.  There is not downtime and the results can be impressive in the right patient.  We also use the Zimmer Z-wave for improved patient comfort and added results. The best candidates are those who are in pretty good shape with areas of stubborn fat that won't go away no matter what. In office evaluation is necessary to evaluate what procedure would be best for you.

What is the differences between Liposuction and Coolsculpting in price for reduction of one area?

Pricing will depend on many factors, but it is typical for liposuction to cost two to three times more than CoolSculpting for the same area being treated. That said, liposuction is able to remove a larger amount of fat from a treatment area in a single procedure. If you return for a second or even third CoolSculpting treatment to achieve further body contouring, the total price of the treatment obviously increases. The advantages of CoolSculpting is that it is a non-surgical treatment that does not require anesthesia, it is essentially painless and it comes with very little downtime for healing. The advantage of liposuction is a more dramatic result in a single procedure, but it also comes with associated surgical costs and a longer period of healing post-operatively (i.e. swelling and bruising). Talk with several highly qualified providers about your options, with price just being one of many factors worth considering in your goal of a slimmer shape.

Coolsculpting vs Lipo

Coolsculpting is an effective FDA non invasive treatment for excess fat. I have seen some impressive results with a series of 2-3 treatments. However, the results do vary from patient to patient. Remember, cool sculpting requires no surgery and it will generally yield at least 10-20% improvement each treatment. It will take up to 3 month to appreciate your final results after each treatment. However, you must understand that cool sculpting is NOT liposuction. Liposuction is a surgical procedure and will yield more definitive results. Please visit with a board certified PS to learn more about your options.

Liposuction and Coolsculpting

Both coolsculpting and liposuction can produce excellent results. Patient selection is key. Prices can vary as it depends on the scope of the treatment which approach is more cost effective. I would recommend that you consult in person with a board certified physician who performs liposuction and offers coolsculpting so that you have the best possible option for you.

Coolsculpting or liposuction

Thank you for your liposuction question.
  • If something does not work, paying less for it than something that does work is a waste of money.
  • My patients who have had Coolsculpting say the fat comes back to the same area.
  • Coolsculpting is based on the observation that children who eat popsicles lose fat in their cheeks
  • But this is temporary - fat returns once summer and the popsicle season is over.
  • Coolsculpting - cooling fat - if done 6 times apparently can kill fat cells.
  • But it rarely is done this way - too much time, too much money.
  • Liposuction is time-tested , fast and effective. It would be my recommendation.
