What is the best technique a practitioner should use when injecting the lips with juvederm?

Some suggest filling the body of the lip as if it's lipstick and others line the lips as well as inject the body. Is there a way to avoid hitting vessels?

Best technique for lip filler

Hello! The best technique is the one that works for the injector. Lining the vermillion gives a different look than filling volume into the lip proper, and it is important to have an experienced injector who can help you achieve your goals. Look for an ACE certified injector (Allergan injector) or a trainer (someone who teaches others how to inject). Good luck!

Best Technique for Lip Augmentation

Both methods of lip augmentation have their place.  It really depends on the shape and size of your natural results and the results that you want.  Please consult an experienced injector for the best cosmetic results.  Best, Dr. Green

Technique for lip filling

The single most important factor in getting good results from fillers is choosing an expert in facial injectables.  Every patient is different, too many physicians treat all patients the same.   Some patients require more volume, some more shape and border, and some both.  Make sure to see an expert injector and save yourself time and money.

What is the best technique a practitioner should use when injecting the lips with juvederm?

Hello Roman23,

I would recommend you consult with a facial plastic surgeon or dermatologist who performs his or her own injections.  The injector would the have the experience to give you the result you are hoping for.  Between the techniques you mentioned they achieve two different goals.  Lining the lip at the border between the red and white will help with lipstick bleeding through and provide a subtle enhancement to the lip.  It will not create a lot of volume or showing much more red of the lip.  For this you inject the body.  Your injector will avoid hitting vessels by staying in the appropriate plane for the injection.  There can still be some bruising as the lips are very vascular, but staying in the correct plane will prevent any major blood vessels from being hit.

I hope this helps and good luck.
