32, F. Sought hair removal from Esthetician in 2023. She used Dermaplus IPL Zeus device (supplier Supramedical 2019, only newer models sold now). Had much success in bikini area after 5-6 session. In 12/2023 we started lower face. Esthetician asked if she could do forehead hairs; I thought she meant hair growing up from eyebrows. She then stamped the device up the entire left side of my face into hairline. After 1 yr, regrowth of my left sideburn & hairline is sparse, thin, light.

First of all, I am so sorry to hear this. I'm unsure why the provider chose to do this as IPL targets melanin. Since this did occur, the spareness of hair growth does make sense. Since I'm unsure of what settings were used, I cannot fully say that permanent damage was done. However, I am happy to hear that you have some regrowth.

Regenerative therapy may be in your benefit such as PRP or Exosomes to boost hair growth. Other options include topical treatment such as Minoxidil or supplements like Nutroful. Do keep in mind that if you do Minoxidil, there is sometimes a period of shedding in the first few weeks of use; however, the hair regrowth will be stronger.
