AA and FPHL

You certainly can have AA and FPHL. AA is not always round and usually not symmetrical.

No the best way to diagnosis is with dermoscopy - a careful up close examination of the scalp. A biopsy can sometimes help if there is still confusion but not always.

FPHL and AA

yes you can have both at the same time. Biopsy can be done but a thorough evaluation by a hair restoration expert is important. A biopsy is done on the edge of what appears normal and what appears abnormal. AA spots can be round and symmetrical, or can be diffuse. You should have a consultation with a hair restoration expert.

Getting to the Root of It--Seeking Hair Loss Treatment: PRP and Progesterone

You can have both, but I'm not clear if you've already had a biopsy, but a scalp evaluation is the best way to diagnose. I suggest seeing an expert to evaluate the cause of your hair loss and consider the best treatment options. There are great non-invasive options like PRP/progesterone and/or hair transplantation. See an expert. Best, Dr. Emer

AA in female

Do you have a biopsy confirmation of AA? If so, we have very successfully cosmetically treated aa with scalp micropigmentation which looks like real hair and would be idel for your neck area.
