Interestingly, I am seeing this more and more in my practice now! Just when you thought doing lasik was going to remove glasses and contacts, patients want to go back to contacts to change their eye colors! My first recommendation to you is that they absolutely cannot go in your eyes within the first 2 weeks of surgery and likely not for about a month. This is a decision to be made between you and your surgeon though, because it really depends on the type of treatment you had and how the surgery itself went. For PRK I would keep you out of contacts at minimum 4-6 weeks, and longer depending on how quickly you healed and when I got you off topical steroids. My final recommendation is that you be fitted for colored contact lenses by a medical professional (ophthalmologist or optometrist) as these are controlled devices and should not be dispensed to patients without being fit properly. Do not just order from Canada or elsewhere :) Side effects of poorly fitted contacts include permanent scarring, infections (ulcers), decreased vision requiring a cornea transplant, etc. - Lee Katzman MD
Your eyes are still healing 11 days after the procedure. Some level of fluctuation is expected as the eyes continue to heal. I would suggest using preservative-free artificial tears for at least 1 month after the procedure which will aid in the healing process. If you have symptoms such as pai...
I'm so sorry to hear about your recent miscarriage. My recommendation would be to hold off on surgery for at least a few weeks or until you feel like you are emotionally ready to proceed with surgery. I would feel the same way about almost any type of surgery (plastic surgery, heart...
I am sorry to here that you are having difficulty with your vision after lasik surgery. It is very common for one eye to be corrected better than the other eye. I tell all patients this in advance to expect this. Just like one of our arms is longer than the other arm. Our...
Feeling Dry the first few days is common. Curiously, it's less common in my hands when the patient (dry or not) uses unpreserved tears or Thera-tears 4 times a day for a month before the surgery.Almost everyone recommends aggressive lubrication afterwards and the dryness tends to resolved within...
If a prescription fixes you issue then the fix would be quite easy. If you haven't seen the MD who did the surgery, it's time you do. If you have seen the MD who did the surgery, and they haven't told you the issue, then is may be time for a second opinion by a cornea or refractive specialist. A...
With the changes that you are experiencing, you should really visit your eye doctor to find out the root cause of the changes.
