Scleroderma can have great variability from patient to patient regarding symptoms, extent and course of condition. Routine evaluation and management by a rheumatologist is paramount. Face telengiectasias are common and there is no way to predict their severity or recurrence after treatment. As many patients are treated with immunosuppresion (e.g. steroids) healing is affected. Laser therapy for the telengiectasias is not recommended if patients are receiving steroids or other immunosuppresants due to severe healing problems.
