Stockings after abdominoplasty
Abdominoplasty carries a significant risk of blood clots in the legs. Therefore, I think it is important to do everything reasonable to stay safe. Some of these things include using blood thinners, walking around at least every two hours while awake, using stockings for the first few days, maintaining good hydration, and others. If the stockings are quite uncomfortable, don't hesitate to remove them every few hours to give your legs a break!
How long do you wear the stockings post Abdominalplasty?
We don't use stockings once the patients leave the surgical facility as they are ambulating that night. We do use Lovenox injections which are far more effective in thrombosis prevention than stockings.
How long do you wear the stockings post Abdominalplasty? Thank you
Thank you for your question and congratulations on your abdominoplasty. This is a question best asked of your surgeon based on your individual risk of developing a blood clot. That said if you are ambulatory and walking easily, it is likely fine to remove your stockings. Hope this helps.
