Cost of Breast Implant Replacement?

I had Breast implants 8 years ago and I'd like to have them made smaller. How much does it cost to have my implants exchanged for a smaller size?

Implant Exchange Fees

Fees will vary considerably across the country and even in the same area. Prices in South Florida tend to be lower than expensive cities such as New York or Los Angeles or with areas with few board certified plastic surgeons. We charge $2800 + MD Anesthesia related expenses for saline implants. Silicone gel implants tend to be about $1000 to $1500 more. Anesthesia fees for the implant exchange tend to be lower if the implants are intact due to less surgical time. Since you can get quality work at lower prices, patients tend to come to South Florida from out of state.

To ensure quality work at most cost effective prices, consult with board certified plastic surgeons that own their own nationally accredited facilities. These surgeons must maintain the highest standards to keep accreditation. Moreover, the surgeons are motivated to ensure quality and properly trained staff (to minimize time and frustration in surgery), private and comfortable facilities (to ensure continued referrals), and less waste (to ensure that they can remain competitive financially with other centers).

Depends upon your surgeon and the surgery required

Down-sizing breast implants can be simple or more complicated. Sometimes breast lift surgery is indicated and other times "scar" capsules must be removed. Lifts some in simpler and more complex types. The best thing for you to do is seek consultation with some qualified doctors and see what they say.

It depends on what is required for your surgery

It is not always as simple as taking out a larger implant and replacing it with a smaller one. If your tissues have stretched as a result of body changes and the implant itself you may need some form of "tightening" surgery possibly inside and outside. Make an appointment with your plastic surgeon to have them evaluate you and go over your options for care. The costs of surgeries will vary from one region to another as well.
