Thank you for your question. Rhinoplasty at an earlier age 17-18 is relatively common. Especially the kids who are going to college and they would like to make the correction prior to the beginning of their first year. Physiologically, a nose refinement would also be ok to be performed at this age. The goal for the nose refinement is to first listen to my patient's expectations and desires and then assist them in the decision making and even image the patient prior to their pre-operative appoinment. The goal is to provide a balanced nose that flows from the eye brow region all the way to the tip of his or her nose. Of course, correcting and maintaining the airway is of utmost importance as well. Hope this helps!!

The nose is physically mature in almost all 17 year old ladies. Therefore a rhinoplasty would be appropriate as long as you have the permission of your parents or legal guardian which is necessary in most places.

Rhinoplasty at 17?

It is generally accepted that the nose reaches adult size in most patients at 15 in females and 16-17 in males. A rhinoplasty can be performed after that time.

Keep in mind that following the advice from a surgeon on this or any other website who proposes to tell you what to do without examining you, physically feeling the tissue, assessing your desired outcome, taking a full medical history, evaluating your level of maturity, and discussing the pros and cons of the operative procedure with you and your parents would not be in your best interest. I would suggest you find a plastic surgeon certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and ideally a member of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) or facial plastic surgeon that you trust and are comfortable with. You should discuss your concerns with that surgeon in person.

Teen Rhinoplasty at age 17

Rhinoplasty can be performed as soon as the nose has stopped growing. This is usually 15-years-old for women and 16-years old for men. At age 17, your nose should be fully developed, and the results of your rhinoplasty will be safer and more predictable.

Be certain to consult a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon or a Board Certified Otolaryngologist with experience correcting nasal deformities.

As soon as you stop growing you can have a rhinoplasty provided you are sure of what changes you want. 15 or 16 for females. I have done rhinoplasty surgery on 14 year old female who had stopped growing and was 6 ft tall.

Men aged 16-7 years depending on what sports they play.

Rhinoplasty in a 17 year old female can be done but you need your parental consent. The nose is fully grown and can be done as early as 14 or 15 years of age. Once you are 18 you can have the surgery without parental consent.

It is definitely ok for most 17 year old females to undergo a rhinoplasty procedure. Females can usually undergo rhinoplasty at age 15, boys at age 16, assuming their development is normal.

17 is usually an appropriate age for a female to undergo rhinoplasty. You will need parental consent.
